Epoxy & polyurethane coatings
Diamond grind to CSP 2–4 depending on film build, with all laitance, curing compound and old coatings removed. Edges and penetrations profiled so the coating doesn't lift at the perimeter.
Vinyl, LVT & hybrid flooring
Old adhesive removed, high spots ground out and the slab handed over flat, clean and dust-free so the installer's pressure-sensitive adhesive can grab properly.

CSP levels explained
Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) is the industry measure of how rough a prepared slab is, defined by ICRI guideline 310.2R. Coating manufacturers specify a minimum CSP — hit it and the system bonds, miss it and the warranty is void.
- CSP 1 – CSP 2
- Light profile from a fine diamond grind. Suited to thin-film sealers, penetrating sealers and some self-levelling underlayments.
- CSP 2 – CSP 3
- The most common profile in Sydney. Standard for two-pack epoxy, polyurethane and moisture-barrier systems up to around 1 mm build.
- CSP 3 – CSP 4
- Aggressive metal-bond grind for high-build epoxy, flake systems and heavy-duty coatings from 1–3 mm.
- CSP 4 – CSP 5
- Deep profile for self-levelling epoxy, industrial screeds and trowel-applied systems over 3 mm.
- Adhesive removal
- PCD tooling strips carpet glue, vinyl adhesive, mastic and tile beds back to sound concrete before final profiling.
- Laitance removal
- The weak cement-rich surface layer and curing compound removed so bonding is to the structural slab, not the skin.

Diamond grinding (our method)
Controlled, repeatable CSP, no chemical residue, dust captured at the source and the slab trafficable immediately. Suits every substrate from residential garages to industrial warehouses.
vs Acid etching
Inconsistent profile, introduces moisture into the slab, risks flash-rusting reinforcement and rarely meets manufacturer specification. Most coating suppliers no longer accept it.
vs Chemical stripping
Slow, messy, leaves residues that interfere with bond, and still needs a mechanical grind afterwards. Rarely removes modern industrial coatings fully.
vs Shot blasting
Fast on large open industrial slabs but leaves a coarse, tracked profile, struggles on adhesives and can't work edges or tight areas. We use grinding for control and finish quality.
vs Scarifying
Tungsten cutters remove material aggressively but leave deep gouges that must be filled before most coatings can go down. Reserved for extreme build removal only.
vs Doing nothing
Coating a sealed, dusty or glue-contaminated slab is the single most common cause of flooring failure — and the remedial cost is always far higher than preparing it correctly first.
